Dissolved Solids, Damansara Kim. Best for an early first date (18:00-20:00). The room is small (32 seats), light is warm but not dim, music sits well under conversation. The timing question

Wednesday or Thursday, 19:00 to 21:00. The sweet spot for a first date. The room has other couples but is not packed. The noise level is conversation-friendly. There is time to leave at 21:00 if it is not working, or extend until 22:30 if it is.

Avoid for first dates: Friday or Saturday after 20:30. Both rooms get busier and louder. The energy is great for groups, less great for two people trying to learn each other.

Sunday afternoon (15:00-17:00) works surprisingly well, quiet, unhurried, the natural light works in your favour. The "Sunday afternoon date" is a small genre we recommend.

How to order on a first date

Three rules:

1. Order something interesting, not safe. "Vodka soda" gives the date no information about you. A specific cocktail, even if your date does not know it, opens a conversation. The bartender will explain.

2. Pace at one drink per 45 minutes. Two cocktails over 90 minutes is the right amount for a first date. Three is the upper limit unless it is clearly going well. You want to remember the conversation.

3. Match strength roughly. If they are sipping a Negroni you are drinking with them, not racing ahead. A 14% ABV cocktail next to a 6% ABV spritz creates an awkward pace mismatch within 30 minutes.

What if they do not drink alcohol

The small things that work

Arrive 10 minutes early, sit at the table, order yourself a drink, stand to greet them when they walk in. Order them a bottle of still water when they sit down (small hospitality). Pay the first round, let them pay the second if they offer (do not insist either way).
