A bridal shower wants a room that feels personal, not a function hall with a banner taped to the wall. Our two small cocktail bars in PJ hold 12 to 40 guests, which happens to be the natural bridal-shower size, and the bartender builds the afternoon or evening around the bride rather than a generic package. The drinks stay at craft standard, every guest who is not drinking gets a non-alcoholic version of the same cocktail, and the bill runs cleaner than the equivalent hotel or central KL spend. The trade-off is no ballroom and no view, which is exactly the point: a shower is meant to feel like a room full of the bride's people, not an event held in a venue.

Bridal shower, hen party, bachelorette, kitchen tea

They are different names for variations on the same evening, and we host all of them:

  • Bridal shower. Usually daytime or early evening, mixed ages, gentler energy, often with the bride's family present. Tea-and-cocktails format works well.
  • Hen party or hen night. Evening, friends-led, higher energy. Soluble Solids suits this best; the build-a-drink format becomes a small entertainment.
  • Bachelorette. The same as a hen night by another name. Custom drinks named for the bride, a signature for the guest of honour.
  • Kitchen tea. The lower-key, daytime version. Dissolved Solids opens from the afternoon and suits this.

Daytime shower or evening hen

For a daytime shower or kitchen tea, Dissolved Solids in Damansara Kim is the answer. It opens from 14:00 to 15:00, so an afternoon booking is straightforward. Afternoon light, lower volume, a long table for gifts and cake, lighter drinks (spritzes, highballs, low-ABV builds) with strong non-alcoholic options for guests who are driving or not drinking.

For an evening hen night, either outlet works. Soluble Solids in SS2 opens at 18:00 and leans into the evening format; the bespoke-build model means each guest can get a drink made for them, which becomes part of the night rather than just a round of drinks.

Both bars for a shower

Dissolved Solids, Damansara Kim. 43-1 Jalan SS20/11, 47400 PJ. Seats about 30, standing capacity around 40. Best for 18 to 40 guests, daytime or evening, the printed-menu format, mixed-age groups. Warm light, an upstairs room that feels private from the street, a long table that suits gifts, cake, and a seated shower.

Soluble Solids, SS2. 50-1 Jalan SS2/24, 47300 PJ. Seats about 20 to 25. Best for 12 to 25 guests, evening, the build-a-drink hen format. The infusion shelf becomes part of the show, and the room reads as a private parlour when bought out.

The custom drinks

This is the part that makes a cocktail-bar shower different from a restaurant booking. We build a short menu, usually four to six drinks, named for the bride and the occasion, printed on small cards. Typically:

  • A signature cocktail for the bride, the centrepiece of the menu, often built from her favourite flavours.
  • A couple of lighter, sessionable drinks for an afternoon or a long evening.
  • A non-alcoholic version of every cocktail, included by default, so guests who are pregnant, driving, or simply not drinking are not handed a glass of juice as an afterthought.
  • Optional: a small drink named for each guest at Soluble Solids, built on the spot from a one-line brief.

The menu costs nothing extra; it needs 2 to 3 weeks of lead time to build and trial.

Decorations, cake, and games

You bring the candles, banners, balloons, sashes, and props; we set them up before guests arrive. We cut, plate, and serve any cake you bring at no extra charge. Shower games run well in the room; tell us the plan and we pace the bar around it so the drinks land between rounds rather than on top of them. Outside food, whether a Grab order or proper catering, is welcome, and we can coordinate catering through a partner kitchen for an additional charge.

What it costs

We use a minimum spend rather than a flat venue fee. Guest drinks count toward it, so a well-attended shower usually meets the minimum naturally and the room effectively costs nothing on top of what guests would have spent anyway.

  • Weekday afternoon or evening, 12 to 30 guests: RM 3,000 to RM 6,000 minimum spend.
  • Friday or Saturday, 25 to 40 guests: RM 6,500 to RM 9,500 minimum spend.
  • Partial-section booking for 12 to 20 guests: smaller minimum, ask for a quote.

PJ rates run roughly 20 to 30% below an equivalent central KL or hotel shower for the same group.

How to book

WhatsApp the outlet 3 to 6 weeks ahead with:

  • The date, and whether you want daytime or evening.
  • Guest count and likely range.
  • The bride's favourite flavours, and anything to avoid (allergies, a flavour she dislikes).
  • Whether you want a custom menu and named drinks.
  • Decoration, cake, and game plans.
  • Any guests who are pregnant or not drinking, so we plan the non-alcoholic side properly.

We reply within 24 hours with a proposed format, the minimum spend, and confirmation of availability.

Common questions

Can I host a bridal shower at a cocktail bar in PJ?

Yes. Both Dissolved Solids on Jalan SS20/11 in Damansara Kim and Soluble Solids on Jalan SS2/24 take bridal showers, hen parties, and bachelorettes as a partial-section booking or a full buyout. Dissolved Solids suits 18 to 40 guests, Soluble Solids 12 to 25. WhatsApp 3 to 6 weeks ahead with the date, group size, and whether you want daytime or evening.

Can the bridal shower be in the daytime?

Yes, at Dissolved Solids in Damansara Kim, which opens from 14:00 to 15:00 and suits an afternoon shower or kitchen tea. Soluble Solids in SS2 opens in the evening (18:00), so it suits an evening hen night rather than a daytime shower. Daytime buyouts on quieter days are the easiest to arrange.

Do you make custom drinks for a bridal shower?

Yes, and it is the heart of the format. We build a short menu named for the bride, usually with one signature drink that becomes the centrepiece. At Soluble Solids the bartender can build a different drink for each guest on the spot. Every cocktail comes with a matching non-alcoholic version by default, so non-drinking guests have full parity.

How much does a bridal shower at your PJ bars cost?

We use a minimum spend rather than a flat venue fee. Working ranges: RM 3,000 to RM 6,000 on a weekday afternoon or evening for 12 to 30 guests, and RM 6,500 to RM 9,500 on Friday or Saturday for 25 to 40 guests. Guest drinks count toward the minimum, so a well-attended shower usually meets it naturally.

Can we bring decorations, a cake, and games?

Yes. You bring candles, banners, balloons, and any props; we set them up before guests arrive. We cut, plate, and serve any cake you bring at no extra charge. Shower games work well in the room; tell us the plan and we will pace the bar around it. Outside food such as a Grab order or catering is welcome.

What is the capacity for a bridal shower?

Dissolved Solids in Damansara Kim seats about 30, with standing capacity up to about 40. Soluble Solids in SS2 seats about 20 to 25. For 12 to 20 guests, a partial-section booking often works better than a full buyout. For 25 to 40, a full buyout gives you the whole room.
