What time to arrive

For the full evening: 19:00 - 20:00. Eat dinner first, walk in for a full evening of drinks.

For the countdown only: 22:30 - 23:00. Most NYE bookings will not seat walk-ins after 22:30; if you have a reservation, arrive 30 minutes early.

For the post-midnight tail: some bars stay open till 03:00 - 04:00 on NYE only. Both our outlets stretch to 02:00.

The countdown drink question

Most guests want something celebratory in hand at midnight. Options:

French 75 (gin, lemon, sugar, champagne) - sparkling, photogenic, easy to drink at speed if needed.

Champagne, neat - if your bar has decent champagne, this is the classic. Vintage if you can stretch.

Negroni Sbagliato - sparkling Negroni variation. The 2022 internet sensation that still makes sense.

Hibiscus French 75 - our local twist. Pink, photogenic, more interesting than the standard.

Coordinate with the bar in advance. Most will pre-pour champagne for the countdown moment.

What to order before midnight

Pace matters. From a 20:00 arrival to a midnight toast, you have ~4 hours and ~3 drinks of capacity if you also want to actually celebrate at midnight.

A working sequence:

20:00 - opener. Negroni or a Spritz. Bitter, low ABV, food-friendly.
21:00 - mid-evening cocktail. Something interesting; a Last Word, a Paper Plane, our local Pandan Collins.
22:30 - last cocktail before the countdown. Spirit-forward but not too heavy. Old Fashioned or a soft Manhattan.
00:00 - champagne or French 75. Toast. Drink.
01:00 onwards - if still going: kopi-led nightcap (Espresso Martini, Kopi Sour, Irish Coffee).

The non-drinker question

Designated drivers and non-drinkers should not be forgotten on NYE. The good bars (ours included) will pour proper mocktails on NYE; some pour a special non-alcoholic spritz with NA sparkling wine for the countdown.

Practical NYE notes

Surge pricing on Grab hits 2-3x normal between 23:00 and 02:00. Plan transport. Some guests pre-book a Grab driver for the return trip.

Parking in PJ is generally easier than KL, even on NYE, because most NYE crowds head to KLCC for fireworks. Damansara Kim and SS2 stay relatively park-able.
